Sage Suite – 2nd Floor Sunset View Boutique Bed & Breakfast

Immerse yourselves in the romantic nostalgia of this 1904 Queen Anne Victorian. 20 minutes from Oxford, Pell City, Sylacauga, Lincoln, and I-20, A relaxed atmosphere combined with refined aesthetics will transport you to a time when places like this were simply “home”. Let us serve you breakfast on the balcony while the church bells ring or we’ll deliver it by tea cart to your suite…just say when.

The space
Your suite includes a California king boudoir, a Lady’s dressing room with extra sleeping arrangements if needed, a full private bath, and laundry room all connected door to door on the east corner of the second floor. We share the west balcony and a second full shower bathroom off the kitchen, as well as the kitchen as needed. Rusty’s art studio / play area is a buffer space between sleeping quarters so there is no worry about noise disturbances. We have prepared your suite for maximum privacy. We take our cues from you and are happy to accommodate the introverts as well as the extroverts.

Guest access
You’ll find a breakfast card in your room when you arrive. Please leave it in the foyer with the days and times you will take breakfast. Other meals may be prepared in the shared kitchen. We make space in the full fridge for a few guest groceries that won’t fit in your mini fridge. You’re welcome to coffee whenever it’s made in the kitchen. The balcony is open for use all day into the evening. If you prefer showers to baths, the second bathroom in the foyer has a clawfoot tub with a shower fixture in it. You are more than welcome to use it. If you feel a burst of creativity, Rusty is happy to share materials and to inspire you with some of his own work. We can give you a full tour of the first floor or send you exploring by request if there are no other private guests below us. Feel free to take a walk around the town square and through the Silk Stocking District. Guided tours will be available soon.

During your stay
We are always reachable by text through the app or by phone should you experience anything urgent. Of course, if we are home, we’d love to meet you and orient you to the area. We also just enjoy meeting people from all over and will talk as long as you like. We respect the cues of our guests and happily accommodate your need for privacy as well.

Other things to note
There is central heat and air. Please let us know your ideal temperature or if you require extra blankets or linens. Our home is your home away from home. Never feel like you should tiptoe around us. We live to make you feel at home.

Cold and hot breakfast options are offered depending on the time of your stay. A breakfast card will be in your suite that you fill out with instructions for your host.
Inside the mirrored armoire are velvet hangers as well additional pillows and linens. A box fan, mini fridge and coffee station are provided for refreshment as needed.
The bathing room is designed for a steamy candlelight repose. This is the longest claw foot tub in the house. A woman of average height will feel utterly like a queen.
Step from the bath to the mirrored wardrobe and take your time dressing for an evening event.
There is plenty of room for your pettycoats and sash in this dreamy filigreed bathing room. Whether it's soft delicate bubbles you like or a lavendar magnesium soak, we provide all of the aromatics to suit your relaxation requests.
Morning light filters in through golden drapes creating an atmospheric glow as your senses awake to this once-upon- a-time story you'll want to tell.
Designed as a lady's dressing room, this space features an armoire, coffee station and dressing mirror all conveniently beside the Victorian fairytale bathing room.
A hall bath near the kitchen features a claw foot tub with a shower should you prefer it to your soaking tub.
Your suite entrance is directly in front of the stairwell landing.
Enjoy a genuine American-made Pennsylvania House ox blood leather reading sofa, a great place to peruse one of our many antique books.
A large mirror at the bottom of the stairs creates an illusion of another stair and motion lights illuminate your ascent.
From the front of the house, following round to the right, your entry door is quite hidden at the end past the 1st floor foyer bay windows. Look for the gorgeous crystal chandelier to guide your way at night.
Your entry door opens immediately to the stairwell to the second floor apartment.
Door to the right is your entry door. The door to left is kept locked to the 1st floor apartment unless the whole house has been rented.
Edwina, the lady of the house, greets you at the top of your landing.

The shared laundry room is all yours on a 2-3 day short stay. You are welcome to close the laundry room door to the foyer to take advantage of an entirely spacious, private, wrap-around, all-inclusive unit from the boudoir, through the ladies' dressing room, to the luxurious bathing room.
Feel free to set this Victorian art screen aglow with the provided candles on the hearth.
